The Iowa Games 4 Player Bestshot takes place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Veenker Memorial Golf Course, 2916 Veenker Dr, Ames, IA 50010. The event starts at 8:00am with a shotgun start. Teams of four compete in a best-shot (best ball) format. Entry fees are $230/team if registered by May 1; $240/team if registered May 2–June 1; $260/team if registered June 2–July 13. Veenker pass holders may enter for a $63.00 team entry fee plus cart rental — online registration is not available for this rate; contact Tess Balsley at Veenker for instructions. Entry fee includes green fee and carts. Team rosters must be submitted to the Iowa Games office by 4:00 PM on July 15, 2026. This is part of the Summer Iowa Games. In lieu of a traditional free event T-shirt, participants receive a 10% discount code for an exclusive 40th Anniversary online apparel store. Veenker Memorial Golf Course is a premier public golf facility owned and operated by Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa. The course officially opened on May 12, 1938, following a vision by George F. Veenker, former ISU athletic director and football coach, and ISU President Raymond Hughes. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell, the course was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration. VMGC has evolved into one of the Midwest's most challenging and talked-about golf courses, known for demanding play and excellent conditions. The facility serves Iowa State students, faculty, staff, and the broader Ames community. The course offers a comprehensive range of golfing activities and amenities, including a driving range, instruction, club fitting, and clubhouse rental services. The facility hosts various programs including men's and ladies' leagues, junior golf instruction, and the Iowa Masters tournament.
