Old Macdonald is the fourth course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, designed by Tom Doak and Jim Urbina as a tribute to Charles Blair Macdonald. The course asks what Macdonald would have created with the Oregon Coast as his canvas. The layout spans diverse terrain across the coastal landscape, with signature holes including Eden (par 3 into prevailing winds), Sahara (blind tee shot over sand dunes), Hog's Back (long par 4 requiring precision), and Punchbowl (strong finishing par 4 playing downwind in summer). Notable features include the Biarritz hole with its distinctive swale and elevated tees offering remarkable views of the surrounding coastline.
The course presents considerable challenge through wind exposure, elevated greens, and strategic bunkering inspired by classic Scottish links design. Hole-by-hole, players encounter varying difficulty and shot-making demands. Golf Digest praised it as "the hottest course in America right now," noting its resemblance to West of Scotland links golf.
