Stoneham Golf Club

Hampshire, England

Stoneham Golf Club was founded in 1908 and designed by renowned architect Willie Park Junior, who also created Sunningdale Old Course. Located on heathland on Southampton's northern boundary, the course is laid out across an old deer park with undulating terrain and parkland features. The course measures 6,400 yards with a balanced design featuring five par 5s and five par 3s, ensuring variety for players of all abilities. The undulating landscape means flat lies are rare, requiring strategic course management. Small greens demand precision with approach shots and test players' short-game skills. While relatively short by modern championship standards, the course rewards tactical play and course management over pure distance, presenting a genuine challenge to golfers across all skill levels. The varied hole designs and natural landscape create an engaging experience that has established it as one of England's notable inland courses.
