Silloth on Solway Golf Club

Silloth, Cumbria, England

Silloth on Solway Golf Club is a highly regarded links course located in Cumbria, northwest England, overlooking the Firth of Solway. Routed by Davy Grant and Willy Park Jnr, the course features 18 holes with distinctive characteristics including blind tee shots on the opening holes, sunken dell greens, and hidden greens framed by yellow gorse. The layout incorporates significant elevation changes creating glorious vistas, with large central hills obscuring targets on par fives and small plateau greens on long par threes. The course is recognized as one of Britain and Ireland's finest links, praised for its strategic routing that takes advantage of prevailing winds and its authentic, quirky design that eschews conformity. Notable features include turbulent fairways, sand dunes, and punchbowl-style greens. The par 5 13th hole, played into the wind, is particularly demanding. Playing conditions are maintained to world-class standards. Despite its isolated location, the course offers exceptional value for money and has gained international recognition, with top golf course reviewers ranking it within the world's top 100 courses.
