Major Open

Major Open is a social strokeplay golf day held at Asker Golfklubb, open to visiting golfers from all clubs. The 2026 edition attracted a record 144 participants with handicaps ranging from very low to very high. The event features a full round of golf with numerous hole competitions (closest to the pin, longest drive), a popular 18th-hole shootout with 25 finalists, and a 'Beat the Pro' charity competition. Food and drink are served throughout the round, including a Big Green Egg station between holes 8 and 9, pizza at hole 18, and a GT-bar between holes 6 and 7. After the round, participants join a grill buffet banquet with prize giving. All surplus proceeds are donated to The Bardo Foundation, which supports children with osteosarcoma at Radiumhospitalet. Registration opens 1 April at 11:00 via the event's Facebook group. The 2026 winner was Petter Clemetsen at -2. The event is described as 'the holiday of the amateur golfers' and emphasizes golf enjoyment, good food, good drink, and good company.
