Hanno Golf Club

埼玉県, Japan

Located in Hanno, Saitama, Hanno Golf Club is a 18-hole, par-72 course designed by renowned architect Kazusuke Izumi. Opened in October 1960, the 769,000-square-meter property is characterized by its flat, forested terrain, with the layout winding through a pine forest centered around the Koi-ga-kubo pond. The strategic design demands high technical skill, a reputation cemented by its history of hosting the 33rd Japan Women's Open and other official tournaments that have challenged many professional players. The course features two distinct sets of greens, offering varied playing conditions. The A Green is a Bentgrass 007 variety, while the B Green is a Tif Eagle Bermuda grass. Yardage varies significantly by tee, with the Black tees stretching 6,927 yards for the A Green configuration and 6,557 yards for the B Green. The White tees measure 5,853 yards and 5,503 yards respectively, providing options for different skill levels. The course rating for men is 73.5 with a slope of 130 on the A Green, indicating a challenging test for scratch golfers. The front nine presents a mix of long par fives and technical par fours. The second hole is a demanding 513-yard par 5 from the Black tees, while the ninth is a 511-yard par 5 that tests endurance. The back nine continues the strategic theme, highlighted by the 18th hole, a 329-yard par 4 that serves as a strong finishing test. The 17th hole, a 580-yard par 5, offers another significant scoring opportunity for low handicappers. Hanno Golf Club requires walking play with caddies, maintaining a traditional atmosphere. The facility includes a covered driving range with 12 bays and a 5,000-square-meter approach practice area. The course is managed by Hanno Golf Club Co., Ltd., and remains a significant venue in the Saitama golfing landscape, known for its precise layout and historical significance in Japanese women's golf.
