East Brighton Golf Club

Brighton, East Sussex, England

East Brighton Golf Club is an 18-hole downland course located just above Brighton Marina in Brighton, East Sussex, with commanding views of the sea and surrounding areas. Founded in 1893 and designed by distinguished architect James Braid, the course offers challenging golf on a distinctive chalk-based layout. The chalk foundation provides excellent drainage, allowing year-round play with trolleys and buggies rarely restricted by conditions. The course is characterized by well-maintained fairways and greens set within the natural downland terrain, providing scenic vistas across Brighton and eastward along the coast. The layout presents a mix of difficulty levels, with several notably challenging holes. The club welcomes both members and visitors, featuring a clubhouse with the historic Oak Room available for private functions and a welcoming 19th hole for refreshment. The course's primary appeal lies in its combination of quality conditioning, architectural heritage, and exceptional landscape views. The natural downland setting and sea views create a distinctive playing experience, while the chalk-based drainage ensures consistent playability throughout the year, making it an accessible destination regardless of season.
