Nelson Golf Club

Nelson Golf Club is a Dr Alister MacKenzie-designed course founded in 1902, located in Brierfield, Nelson. As a MacKenzie design, the course reflects the renowned Scottish architect's signature approach to golf course architecture, emphasizing strategic play and natural terrain integration. The club offers a full 18-hole championship course with various membership categories including full, ladies, academy, corporate, and social options. The course features traditional characteristics typical of MacKenzie's work, blending challenging hole designs with the surrounding landscape. The facility maintains professional standards with a clubhouse offering functions and events, a professional shop with coaching services, and sports massage therapy available to members and visitors. Course management includes winter rules during appropriate seasons, with provisions for preferred lies through the green and fairway mats in use during wet conditions. Nelson Golf Club welcomes visitors through tee time bookings and hosts society golf days and open competitions. The club operates under established local rules and dress codes to maintain course standards. As a historic course over 120 years old, Nelson Golf Club represents an important example of early 20th-century golf course design in Lancashire.
