Golf Club Trieste is an 18-hole course located in Padriciano, just outside Trieste, at an altitude of 350 meters. Designed by architect Giacomo Cabrini, the layout spans 5,810 meters and plays to a par of 70. The course is situated on the Karst plateau, nestled between the characteristic hills of the Karst region and the sea, offering views of the Gulf of Trieste, the lagoons of Grado and Lignano, and the Istrian coast. Cabrini’s design aims to preserve the natural landscape, creating a course where original and new holes blend seamlessly, demanding both long drives and precise approach shots over natural obstacles. The terrain presents specific challenges, particularly on the greens which, while appearing flat, feature significant slopes that require careful reading. The course is open year-round and caters to players of all levels, from beginners to competitive golfers. It includes a covered driving range with 10 stations and facilities for putting, pitching, and chipping. The club places a strong emphasis on youth development, organizing extensive introductory activities for young players. The club holds historical significance as the first golf course established in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The course was originally built by Anglo-American forces at the end of the Second World War and was handed over to a group of local golf enthusiasts in early 1955, shortly after the end of their administration in Trieste. Today, it stands as a historic venue that combines its post-war origins with modern golfing standards, maintaining a commitment to environmental conservation and the preservation of local flora and fauna.
