Durham City Golf Course

County Durham, England

Durham City Golf Club is one of England's oldest inland clubs, founded in 1887 in the historic cathedral city of Durham. Located in Langley Moor, 2 miles southwest of Durham's city centre, the club occupies its third home at Littleburn since relocating there in November 1974. The course is a mature parkland layout set on the banks of the River Browney. Individual holes are enveloped in tree-lined avenues, each providing testing play in relative seclusion. The design features subtly sloped greens and gentle terrain, presenting a challenging but enjoyable test for golfers of all abilities. The course's quality earned it the honour of hosting the English Girls Championship in 2008, marking the first time the region had hosted this prestigious event. This recognition reflected decades of careful course development and management by club members and staff. The traditional club maintains modern standards while adopting a relaxed and welcoming approach to both members and visitors, positioning itself as a must-play venue for golfers visiting the northeast region.
