Yamato Country Club is a 27-hole, par 108 facility located in Tenri City, Nara Prefecture, Japan. Designed by Shoji Fukui and opened in August 1975, the course is set on a 1,450,000-square-meter hilly terrain that spans 10,100 yards in total length. The property is divided into three distinct nine-hole courses named after flowers: the Satsuki, Ashibi, and Sazanka courses. The layout is characterized by its undulating landscape, with many holes featuring significant elevation changes, including uphill and downhill shots, as well as blind tee shots. The Satsuki course presents a mix of strategic challenges, highlighted by the par-4 fourth hole which demands precision between out-of-bounds lines. The Ashibi course features a demanding par-4 fourth hole stretching 465 yards from the back tees, requiring a long and accurate drive to avoid out-of-bounds on the right. The Sazanka course completes the trio of distinct playing experiences, with the entire facility designed to offer varied strategic options based on tee selection and wind conditions. Strategic play is essential throughout the layout, with many holes requiring careful distance management and avoidance of deep bunkers or out-of-bounds areas. The course incorporates water hazards on several holes, including a pond guarding the green on the third hole of the Ashibi course. The design emphasizes the natural topography, with greens often situated on slopes or surrounded by trees, requiring precise approach shots. The facility includes a driving range and a clubhouse with banquet facilities, catering to both members and visitors seeking a challenging round in a natural setting.
