Yamato Kogen Country Club

Yamato Kogen Country Club is a 27-hole, par-108 facility located in Tenri City, Nara Prefecture, Japan. Designed by Shoji Fukui and opened in August 1975, the course is set on a 1,450,000-square-meter hilly terrain that spans 10,100 yards in total length. The property is divided into three distinct nine-hole courses named after local flora: Satsuki, Ashibi, and Sazanka. The club utilizes Bentgrass greens and is situated in an area known for its rich natural beauty and historical significance, with the adjacent Aki-no Golf Club listed as a sister course. The Satsuki Course, a par-36 layout, features a mix of uphill and downhill holes that demand strategic shot placement. Notable challenges include the par-4 fourth hole, which plays as a middle hole with out-of-bounds on both sides, and the par-5 sixth hole, a long hole requiring a carry over a valley. The course also features a blind shot on the eighth hole and a demanding par-5 ninth that plays slightly uphill. The Satsuki course is equipped with GPS cart navigation to assist players with distance and safety. The Ashibi Course, also par-36, presents a different set of strategic tests, including several long par-4s and par-5s. The first hole is a 502-yard par-5 that requires a precise drive to avoid out-of-bounds on the right. The course features a water hazard on the par-3 third hole, which plays downhill over a pond to a two-tiered green. The par-4 fourth hole is a long middle hole that rewards distance but penalizes errors with out-of-bounds on the right side. The layout includes blind tee shots and holes that play into the wind, requiring careful distance management. The club facilities include a driving range with 100-yard tees and a clubhouse with three competition rooms capable of seating up to 100 guests. The course is accessible via public transportation to Tenri City and accepts major credit cards, including JCB, Visa, Diners Club, and American Express.
