Awaga Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course located in the town of Mikawachi in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. Situated on Awaji Island, the course is characterized by its rolling terrain and expansive fairways that offer clear views of the surrounding landscape and the Seto Inland Sea. The layout is designed to provide a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels, with a particular emphasis on strategic shot-making rather than sheer power. The course features wide fairways that average 60 to 70 meters in width, allowing players to hit bold shots with confidence. Despite being a hilly course, the elevation changes are generally moderate, and there are few doglegs or valley crossings. This design encourages players to focus on accuracy and course management. The greens are generally flat with subtle undulations, averaging 600 square meters in size, which can lead to tricky putting conditions if players do not read the breaks correctly. A notable feature of the course is the 7th hole, a par-3 that serves as a signature challenge. This hole requires a tee shot over a 5.8-meter elevation gain to a two-tiered green protected by bunkers on the left and right. The difficulty of this hole, along with the 5th, 15th, 17th, and 18th holes, defines the strategic character of the round. The course offers multiple tee boxes, with the back tees stretching to 5,826 yards, providing a test for scratch golfers while remaining accessible for higher handicappers. Awaga Golf Club has a history of hosting local tournaments and events, contributing to its reputation as a premier golfing destination on Awaji Island. The course is known for its well-maintained conditions and the hospitality of its staff, making it a popular choice for both members and visitors. The combination of scenic beauty, strategic design, and accessible difficulty makes it a standout course in the Hyogo region.
