Akan Country Club is a 27-hole facility located on a eastern hillside in Akan-machi, Kushiro, Hokkaido, situated along National Route 240. Opened in September 1972, the course is designed by Seizo Tomizawa and Isamu Doi. The property spans 1.7 million square meters and features a layout that winds through over 20 species of natural forest, including birch, Ezo pine, cherry, and elm. The terrain is characterized by moderate undulations, and the greens are maintained with Bentgrass. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops: the Pirika, Marimo, and Tancyo courses. Each nine-hole loop plays to a par of 36, bringing the total course par to 108. The combined yardage from the back tees is 10,619 yards. The design emphasizes a flat, wooded experience, with the fairways cutting through the natural forest environment rather than presenting open, links-style terrain. The setting provides expansive views of the Pacific Ocean to the east, while the mountains Ezo-Akan and Akan loom in the background. The area is noted for its wildlife, including red-crowned cranes and Ezo sika deer. The club hosts regular competitive events, including the Mid-Senior Championship and the Club Championship, and is affiliated with the Japan Golf Association and the Hokkaido Golf Association.
