The Fiji Golf Club is a 5.6-kilometer, par 72 parkland course located at 15 Rifle Range Road in Suva, Fiji. Established in 1908, it holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating golf club in the South Pacific Region. The layout is designed to accommodate players of all levels, featuring lush fairways framed by majestic mahogany and tropical palm trees. The terrain integrates natural marshland, sand bunkers, and water hazards throughout the 18 holes, creating a setting that rewards precision while remaining accessible to beginners and seasoned golfers alike. The course presents a variety of strategic challenges, beginning with a welcoming first hole that gently bends left to right, offering safe landing areas for errant shots. The front nine includes demanding short par fours and long par fives that test distance management. Hole 3, the longest on the course at 496 meters from the black tees, requires patience as the right side is lined with dense mangrove bush and out-of-bounds markers. The ninth hole presents a demanding finish, requiring a tee shot over a long marsh and careful navigation of a hidden creek two-thirds of the way up the fairway. The back nine continues the test with holes that blend strategic risk with scenic beauty. Hole 7 is noted as a visually striking par 4 that rewards a solid drive and offers manageable recoveries. The course features several scoring opportunities, such as the 12th hole, a short par 3 framed by bush and marsh that offers a genuine birdie chance for confident swings. Conversely, holes like the 14th require discipline, with a dog-leg layout where the right side is guarded by trees, creek, and marshland. The 16th hole provides an exciting late-round par 3 that plays slightly uphill, demanding a great swing to avoid trees on the left. The Fiji Golf Club has a proud history of hosting the Fiji Open Championships, establishing it as a significant venue for tournament golf. The club supports its players with a full suite of services, including caddies with detailed local knowledge, a new pro shop, and on-course refreshments. The course features multiple tee boxes for each hole, allowing golfers to adjust the difficulty and distance to suit their handicap and playing style.
