Akechi Golf Club is a 54-hole facility located in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, comprising three distinct 18-hole courses: the East, West, and Central courses. The complex, which spans 2,116,555 square meters, opened on June 5, 1974. The layout features a total par of 216 and a combined yardage of 20,527 yards. The design philosophy emphasizes the natural topography, with the East and West courses designed by J.E. Crane and the Central course designed by Yoshio Kato. The East Course, measuring 7,087 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, is characterized by its long history and established character. It offers a mix of long par-5s, including a 572-yard 9th hole and a 545-yard 1st hole, alongside shorter par-3s like the 196-yard 6th. The course demands precision off the tee and rewards strategic play, with yardages varying significantly across the different tee boxes. The West Course, at 6,911 yards from the back tees, is described as a dynamic layout that requires both boldness and finesse. It features a particularly demanding 558-yard 3rd hole and a 572-yard 10th hole, testing the length and accuracy of players. The design incorporates significant elevation changes and terrain features, creating a challenging and mentally demanding round that highlights the natural landscape. The Central Course offers a contrasting experience, measuring 6,683 yards from the back tees. It is noted for its relatively flat terrain and open views, allowing players to see the pin on many holes. This layout provides a more relaxed atmosphere while still maintaining a par of 72, with notable holes including the 542-yard 1st and the 529-yard 18th. The facility is known for its vibrant green and bunker contrasts, as well as water features that reflect the sky, providing a scenic environment for golfers throughout the seasons.
