Thurlestone Hotel Golf Course

Devon, England

Thurlestone Golf Club is an 18-hole course designed by Harry Colt, situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the Bigbury Bay coastline in Devon. The layout combines links and cliff-top terrain, offering breathtaking views of Thurlestone Rock to the east and the Avon Estuary and Burgh Island to the west. The course is characterized by majestic rocky seascapes above dramatic coves and presents an exhilarating playing experience. While not overly severe, it features generous fairways but is notably challenging due to the exposed coastal winds. The opening twelve holes traverse the headland along cliff edges in true links style, with thick, springy turf that promotes good ball striking. The course welcomes both members and visitors, hosting various competitions and open tournaments throughout the year. It is considered ideal holiday golf, balancing accessibility with genuine challenge. The club also operates twelve tennis courts alongside the golf facilities.
