Saturday Club Day is a regular weekly competition held at Ellesmere Golf Club on Saturday mornings. Tee-off is at 12:00 noon with sign-in by 11:30am. Groups and starting tees are allocated on the day. The competition fee is $6 for members and $5 for visitors (plus half the current green fee). The entry fee includes twos and a nett eagles competition. Visitors from other clubs are welcome and may enter the two's competition; however, visitors are not eligible for the birdies/nett eagles competition. Cards must be returned by 4:30pm to be included in the day's competition. The scoring format varies throughout the year as specified in the club programme.

Ellesmere Golf Club is an 18-hole course with a par of 72, featuring multiple tee options to accommodate players of varying abilities. The Blue tees measure 5,980 metres with a New Zealand Course Rating of 70.3 and slope rating of 114, while the White tees play to 5,657 metres (68.4 rating). The Yellow tees offer 5,240 metres at a 66.4 rating for intermediate players, and Purple tees at 3,276 metres provide an accessible option for beginners. The course layout consists of a front nine totalling par 36 and a back nine also at par 36. The front nine features a mix of par-3s, par-4s, and two par-5s, with distances from the Blue tees ranging from 152 to 466 metres. The back nine similarly balances hole variety, including challenging par-5s at holes 15 and 18. The course presents moderate difficulty across the standard tees, with stroke indexes distributed to provide strategic challenge throughout both nines. The variety of tee positions allows the course to be playable for golfers across skill levels while maintaining competitive challenge for more experienced players.
