Club de Golf Palihue

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Based in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, Club de Golf Palihue offers a diverse golfing experience through its multiple course configurations. The facility is anchored by the Norpatagónico course, which serves as the club's championship layout. Established in the 1960s, this 18-hole course measures 6,566 yards with a par 70 for professionals and par 71 for amateurs. The Norpatagónico is constructed by combining specific holes from the club's three distinct 9-hole circuits, creating a unique routing that challenges players with varied terrain and strategic demands. The club’s foundation rests on three primary 9-hole courses: Sud - Azul, Este - Colorada, and Oeste - Amarilla. The Sud - Azul course preserves nine holes from the original layout, featuring narrow fairways, moving greens, and centennial trees. It is distinguished by the presence of the Napostá Creek, which crosses three of its holes, adding water hazards to the challenge. The layout offers a balanced mix of three par-3s, three par-4s, and three par-5s. Notable holes include the elevated tee on the short par-3 fourth, and the sixth hole, a par-5 where the fairway is crossed transversely by the creek, requiring strategic placement of the drive. The Este - Colorada course is designed to spread its nine holes across the four cardinal points, exposing players to winds from multiple directions. This layout is characterized by wide fairways and significant length, with holes reaching up to 568 yards on the par-5 sixth. The course incorporates water hazards and out-of-bounds areas to increase difficulty. Its signature holes include the ninth, a par-4 that requires a second shot of over 200 yards to cross the Napostá Creek, and a par-3 island green that tests precision approach play. The Oeste - Amarilla course completes the trio of 9-hole circuits, providing additional variety for members and guests. Beyond the main courses, the club maintains a pitch & putt, a putting green, and an approach green for practice. Founded in 1940, the club hosts significant regional events, including the Abierto Regional Norpatagónico, which has been held annually for over 40 years. The facility also supports the Copa Palihue and other local championships, serving as a central hub for golf in the region.
