The Chimneys Golf Course

Winder, GA, United States

The Chimneys Golf Course is an 18-hole public course located in Winder, Georgia, playing to a par 72 at 6,384 yards across five tee sets. The course is distinguished by its signature feature: abundant native rock hand-laid throughout the greens, fairways, and pedestal tees, creating visual accent and character. Set in an undisturbed natural landscape, The Chimneys emphasizes raw beauty and environmental stewardship rather than residential development. The course employs recycled water irrigation to maintain playability year-round and incorporates areas of tall fescue grass to minimize mowing impact. The design accommodates golfers of all abilities across its five tee options. Head Superintendent Tom Thebeau manages the course with attention to agronomy and ecological practices. The layout includes notable features such as hole #14, which showcases the course's aesthetic approach. Owned by the City of Winder, The Chimneys positions itself as a golf-focused public facility emphasizing inclusivity and a welcoming, casual atmosphere rather than exclusive or tournament-oriented play. The course is recognized among top-rated facilities in Georgia.
