Higashi Joyo Golf Club is a 9-hole, par 72 layout set on gentle rolling hills in a forested setting. The course is designed as a "box garden" style, where each hole is separated by pine trees. The front nine utilizes natural wide valleys with generous fairways, while the back nine is carved along ridges and surrounded by a mix of pine, cedar, and cypress trees. The course features a variety of hole lengths, ranging from a short 106-yard 3rd hole to a lengthy 503-yard 18th hole. The 6th hole, a par 5 measuring 501 yards from the regular tees, and the 13th hole, a 450-yard par 5, are noted as the longest holes on the property. The 7th and 15th holes are highlighted as recommended for nearest-pin contests. Green surfaces are maintained with the New Bent (CY-2) variety, selected for durability, disease resistance, and winter color. The course offers multiple tee options, including back, regular, front, ladies, and platinum tees, with yardages varying significantly based on the set chosen. A JGA Course Rating is provided, with a men's rating of 72.0 from the back tees and a women's rating of 77.8. Local rules include specific guidelines for out-of-bounds, marked by white stakes, and penalty areas. Players are required to play from a forward special tee with a par 4 if their first shot goes out of bounds or is lost, though this does not apply to certain designated competitions. Water hazards on the 1st, 3rd, and 10th holes allow for a drop at a forward special tee with a par 3. The course also features specific rules regarding repair grounds, drainage ditches, and cart paths.
