Kutsuki Golf Club

滋賀県, Japan

Located in Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, Kutsuki Golf Club is a 18-hole, par-72 facility set within the Kutsuki valley. The course is divided into two distinct nine-hole loops, with the front nine characterized by significant elevation changes and the back nine offering a more strategic, relatively flatter layout. The club features Bentgrass greens and provides multiple tee options, including a dedicated Pink tee designed to make the course accessible to players of all skill levels. The front nine, totaling 36 strokes, is described as an attacking course where distance off the tee is a critical factor. The terrain features steep ups and downs, making distance control on approach shots vital for scoring. The 5th hole, a 361-yard par 4 from the white tees, is rated as the most difficult hole on the course with a handicap of 1, featuring a second shot from which the pin is not visible. The 8th hole is noted as a signature "famous hole," while the 9th requires a tee shot aimed toward the clubhouse, followed by a cautious second shot to avoid water hazards. The back nine shifts to a strategic game where accuracy off the tee is paramount. Several holes feature tight fairways that demand precision, particularly the 14th, 15th, and 18th holes. The 14th is a 376-yard par 4 where players must navigate out-of-bounds on both sides, while the 18th presents a challenging finish with water guarding the front of the green and out-of-bounds to the right. The 13th hole features a two-tiered green that requires careful pin placement awareness, and the 16th is a short par 3 where a short shot leaves a difficult approach. Kutsuki Golf Club hosts various competitive events, including the "Usagi to Kame" tournament and open competitions, alongside a junior golf camp hosted by professional Rikako Morita. The club also participates in local events such as the Shiga Prefectural Golf Tournament. With course ratings ranging from 67.7 to 72.2 depending on the tees played, the layout offers a challenging test for scratch golfers while remaining approachable for higher handicappers through its shorter tee markers.
