The 50th Cup Opening Day Memorial Open Competition is held on the 17th of each month at Kikugawa Country Club. This is an open competition open to all visitors on the day (当日の来場者全員). The format is W-Perilla (W-ペリア), a half-course aggregation scoring method where out and in holes are combined to determine rankings. In the event of a tied net score, the gross leader and then the elder player take precedence. Tee markers are white for men and red for ladies; senior men aged 70-74 may use grey markers, and those 75+ may use red markers. The competition follows JGA rules and local rules. Prizes are facility discount vouchers usable for future play, awarded to top finishers (1st through 10th, 20th-190th, plus best ball categories), with presentation upon departure or by post if the winner has already left. Entry is handled via online reservation. Play fees vary by month and whether playing with or without a caddy: for example, in June and July, caddie-fee includes ¥13,580 (4-ball) and self-play is ¥10,780 (3-ball or more); in August, self-play at ¥9,430 includes lunch; in October, caddie-fee is ¥19,030 and self-play is ¥16,280. Lunch is separate for most months, though some months offer lunch-inclusive free play. The entry fee is the play fee stated above, which varies by month and caddy option.

Kikugawa Country Club is a flat and wide 18-hole layout located in Tomita, Kikugawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Situated just a short drive from the Tomei Expressway's Kikugawa Interchange, the course opened in 1976 and recently marked its 50th anniversary. The total yardage varies by tee box, ranging from 5,733 yards from the front tees to 6,730 yards from the back tees, with a consistent par of 72 across all configurations. The course is characterized by its wide fairways and a balanced mix of hole lengths. The front nine totals 36 holes and 3,328 yards from the back tees, featuring a long par-5 sixth hole at 504 yards and a short par-3 eighth at 156 yards. The back nine adds another 36 holes and 3,402 yards, highlighted by the demanding 15th hole, a 551-yard par-5, and the 17th, a 532-yard par-5 that serves as the course's longest stretch. The layout includes three par-3s, five par-4s, and three par-5s on each nine, providing a varied test for golfers of different skill levels. Kikugawa Country Club hosts a variety of regular tournaments and events throughout the year, including the "Kikugawa City Tourism Association Cup" and the "Oimoya Cup." The club also organizes the annual "Opening Day Anniversary 50th Cup" held on the 17th of every month to commemorate its founding.
