Hokkaido Brooks Country Club is an 18-hole championship course located in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, set within a vast 500,000-tsubo estate characterized by rich greenery and gentle natural undulations. The layout was designed by E. Snieders and Taizo Kawada, who sought to create an orthodox, strategic course that reflects the character of classic American links while utilizing the terrain's natural contours. The course is divided into two distinct nines: the front nine is framed by the contrast of pine and birch trees, demanding bold decision-making, while the back nine offers a landscape reminiscent of Scottish links, requiring precise shot-making. The course plays to a par 72, with yardages varying significantly by tee box. From the forward tees, the total distance is 5,241 yards, extending to 7,332 yards from the back tees. The front nine totals 3,646 yards from the back tees, featuring a mix of par-4s, a par-5, and two par-3s. The back nine mirrors this structure, also totaling 3,686 yards from the back tees, with the 17th hole serving as the par-5 stretch at 558 yards. Handicap indices are distributed to balance the challenge, with the 8th hole on the front nine and the 14th on the back nine carrying the lowest handicaps of 1 and 2, respectively. Hokkaido Brooks Country Club has established a history of hosting significant amateur and professional events. It has hosted the Japan Amateur Golf Championship, the Hokkaido Open Golf Championship, and the Sapporo Open Golf Tournament. The course is also scheduled to host the 67th Japan Women's Amateur Golf Championship in 2026. The facility is designed to accommodate a wide range of players, from beginners to masters, offering a challenging yet accessible stage for golfers of all levels.
