Hachimantai Country Club

岩手郡, Japan

Located in Shizukuishi, Iwate Prefecture, Hachimantai Country Club is a 6,557-yard, par-72 course designed by Koji Yasuda. The facility opened in October 1962 and is set in a mountainous region with gentle terrain and wide fairways. The course features Bentgrass greens and is characterized by subtle undulations that vary the approach shots, while the greens themselves remain relatively flat and large, making the approach game manageable. The front nine is generally shorter, requiring a focus on accuracy over distance. The opening hole is a gentle uphill par-4 with a wide landing area, while the second hole presents a 128-yard carry over water to a long, sloping green. The third hole is a short par-4 guarded by a front bunker and an OB zone behind the green, demanding precision. The fourth hole is a strategic par-4 dogleg left with OB on the right side, and the fifth hole is a 490-yard par-5 with a downhill tee shot and hazards lurking in the rough near the green. The ninth hole is a 481-yard par-5 dogleg left with a sloping green that penalizes overshooting. The back nine begins with accessible holes but becomes significantly more challenging from the 14th hole onward. The 14th is a 429-yard par-4 that requires both distance and accuracy, with steep slopes on the right and a large, receptive green. The 15th hole is a demanding 533-yard par-5 that doglegs slightly right, with OB behind the green making it a critical scoring opportunity. The 16th hole is a blind downhill par-4 where players must aim right of a pine tree, with OB lurking behind the green. The closing 18th hole is a 528-yard par-5 that tests players with its length and slope, requiring a strong finish to the round.
