Hippodrome Golf Club

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Hippodrome Golf Club, located in Divonne-les-Bains, France, is a nine-hole Pitch and Putt course established in 2005 by Yves Radal. Situated within the grounds of the local hippodrome, the course offers views of the Jura mountain range and is in close proximity to Lake Geneva. The layout features natural greens and fairways designed to be technically challenging yet accessible to players of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. The course is homologated by the French Golf Federation (FFG) and allows golfers with a handicap index of 54 to play, with the potential to reduce their index down to 26.5 through participation in club competitions. The facility is designed to democratize the sport, catering to a wide demographic including families, children, and high-handicap players. A key feature of the course is its technical nature, which requires precise shot-making on short distances. The club supports this accessibility with a practice area boasting 250 meters of length, 35 posts (12 covered), and high-quality mats and balls. The course is played as a nine-hole loop, which can be completed twice for an 18-hole round, a format utilized in the Hippo Kids Cup finals for junior players. Competitions are a central part of the club's calendar, with weekly ranking competitions held every Sunday at 10:00 AM for members holding a "Carte Verte" (Green Card). These events use a Stableford format and a shotgun start, providing a structured environment for players to improve their handicap. The club also hosts the Hippo Kids Cup, a circuit for under-8, under-10, under-12, and under-16 players, featuring qualification rounds on the nine-hole course and a final on an 18-hole format. The course is located at Rue Tour du Lac, 01220 Divonne-les-Bains, and is easily accessible from Geneva and Lausanne.
