Located in the hilly terrain of Yamagata City, Gifu, Gifu International Country Club is a 18-hole, par 72 course spanning 145 hectares. The layout, which opened in September 1988, was supervised by Yoko Moriguchi. The course is divided into two distinct halves: an outward nine that demands precise shot-making on a shorter, more strategic layout, and an inward nine characterized by wider fairways and longer distances that favor powerful hitters. The front nine covers approximately 3,070 yards from the regular tees, featuring a mix of par fours and a par three that plays across a three-tiered green. The back nine extends to roughly 3,251 yards, offering longer par fives and par fours that test distance. The course utilizes bent grass greens and is designed to be played with motorized carts, allowing for comfortable play throughout the seasons. Wind plays a significant role in scoring at this location, requiring accurate club selection on both nines. The course is known for its integration with the natural landscape of the region, which is famous for producing "Rihei-guri" chestnuts. While the outward nine requires tactical precision to avoid hazards, the inward nine provides a more open challenge for long hitters who can maintain directionality. The club hosts a variety of internal competitions throughout the year, including monthly cups, senior and ladies' championships, and the President's Cup. These events cater to different skill levels and age groups, maintaining an active competitive calendar for its members. The facility remains a private, members-only club, offering a golfing experience that balances the demands of a hilly terrain with the accessibility of cart play.
