The 2026 Open Competition October Last Call is an open competition hosted by Chitose Airport Country Club on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The competition is played as an 18-hole strokeplay using the Double Peria format, a pairs format where two players compete together with the better score counting per hole. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole layouts: the Hakuchou Course, the Sekirei Course, and the Oshidori Course. Together, the full course measures 10,457 yards from the white tees with a total par of 108. The layout is designed to offer a comprehensive championship experience, catering to players ranging from beginners to single-digit handicappers. The Hakuchou Course is characterized by its diverse layout and the presence of the Hakuchou Lake, which serves as a prominent water hazard. This nine features a mix of par 3, 4, and 5 holes, including a 539-yard par 5 from the white tees and a 161-yard par 3. The greens on this layout often feature soft undulations, and players must navigate doglegs and sloping fairways that require precise shot placement. The design encourages strategic play, with specific warnings against aiming too far right where trouble often lies. The Sekirei Course presents a longer, forested challenge through the trees, described as a woodland course that allows players to feel the vastness of Hokkaido. It includes significant yardage, such as a 571-yard par 5 from the white tees, and features doglegs and elevated tees. The layout demands accuracy off the tee, particularly on holes where out-of-bounds areas are close to the fairway. The greens here are often two-tiered or wide, requiring careful distance control to avoid difficult putts. The Oshidori Course is noted for its sand greens and views of Mount Tarumae, offering a layout that tests a player's short game and technical skill. This nine includes a 130-yard par 3 from the white tees that requires a carry over water, as well as long par 5s reaching 540 yards. The presence of sand greens adds a layer of difficulty, demanding precise approach shots and delicate chipping. The course allows carts with navigation systems to travel on the fairways, facilitating a comfortable round through the varied terrain.
