Fuji Amagi Golf Club

静岡県, Japan

Located in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Fuji Amagi Golf Club is a 27-hole facility designed by Nihon Kokudo Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. The club opened in November 1961 and is situated on a hilly terrain that offers expansive views of Mount Fuji. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole layouts: the Matsu Course, the Fuji Course, and the Sato Course. Each layout is designed to take advantage of the natural topography, providing a balanced difficulty level that accommodates players from beginners to advanced golfers. The Matsu Course, a par 36 layout, features a dynamic design characterized by the harmony between pine trees and gentle natural slopes. It includes a par-5 third hole where players must navigate a central pond, and a par-4 fifth hole that utilizes different routes depending on the active green. The course features two greens for the first eight holes, with the ninth hole presenting a downhill tee shot and a green guarded by bunkers. The total yardage from the back tees is 3,223 yards, with a course rating of 71.4. The Fuji Course, also par 36, is noted for its scenic views of Mount Fuji across the seasons. This layout includes a long par-5 seventh hole that doglegs left and requires a safe tee shot to avoid OB on the left side. The fourth hole is a downhill par-3 where distance control is critical due to bunkers guarding the front of the green. The ninth hole offers a dramatic downhill tee shot followed by a slight uphill finish, with OB on the left and a single penalty area on the right. The back tee yardage stands at 3,275 yards, sharing the 71.4 course rating with the Matsu Course. The Sato Course is described as a technical and strategic layout that utilizes the natural terrain with varied elevation changes. It features a signature par-3 third hole, a downhill shot over a valley that leads to a two-tiered green guarded by bunkers. The first hole is a long par-5 that requires a downhill tee shot, with OB lining the right side for subsequent shots. The seventh hole is a downhill par-4 that doglegs left, requiring precise placement off the tee to avoid the mountain slope. The back tee yardage is 3,155 yards, with a course rating of 70.5. Fuji Amagi Golf Club operates year-round without closure days. The facility includes a 280-yard driving range with 18 bays, as well as putting and approach practice areas. The club is known for its natural hot spring bath, with the source located between the fifth and sixth holes of the Sato Course. The club also hosts regular competitions, including the Fuji Amagi Open and various ladies' cups, which have been held annually since 2016.
