The Romantic Course at Golfclub Klagenfurt-Seltenheim is a nine-hole layout designed by Perry O’Dye and established in 1993. Situated at an elevation of 520 meters in Klagenfurt-Wölfnitz, the course is set within a largely wooded landscape that integrates with the backdrop of the Karawanks mountain range. The layout offers a total par of 35, providing a condensed round that allows for a quick yet engaging golfing experience. The course features two sets of tees to accommodate different skill levels and distances. From the yellow tees, the course measures 2,446 meters, while the red tees offer a shorter distance of 2,088 meters. The hole configuration includes three par-3s, four par-4s, and two par-5s. Notable holes include the longest par-5, the 15th, which measures 423 meters from the yellow tees, and the shortest par-3, the 17th, which comes in at just 116 meters. The handicap distribution suggests a balanced challenge, with the 14th hole rated as the most difficult (handicap 13/14) and the 10th hole (handicap 17/18) as the easiest. Access to the Romantic Course is open to non-members, who can purchase green fees directly at the secretariat without the need for a prior tee time reservation. The course is generally open from April until the end of October. While the course is designed for a romantic and adventurous round, it maintains a welcoming atmosphere that even permits dogs on leashes. The layout’s integration into the forested terrain and its proximity to the mountains provide a distinct setting compared to the club’s 18-hole Championship Course.
