Sand Martins Golf Club

Wokingham, Berkshire, England

Sand Martins Golf Club, opened in 1993, is an 18-hole course located in Wokingham, Berkshire, conveniently situated near Junction 10 of the M4 and Junction 3 of the M3, approximately 29 miles from Heathrow Airport. The course features two distinctly contrasting nine-hole loops, each finishing at the clubhouse, allowing for flexible play options. The outward nine is laid out in parkland style with lakes, water hazards, and dog-leg holes, exemplifying risk-and-reward golf suitable for players of all levels. The back nine presents a unique inland links-style experience with deep revetted bunkers and hazards on every hole. Notable features include the 13th hole, where par feels exceptional, and the 15th hole "Deception," which features a ravine crossing the fairway. The course maintains consistently high-quality playing surfaces year-round through a fully automated watering system. The layout's contrasting nines have been praised for their unusual design, with the back nine delivering a St Andrews-style challenge rarely found in inland English courses. The club continues ongoing course upgrades and improvements.
