King Island Golf & Bowling Club

Tasmania, Australia

King Island Golf & Bowling Club is a 9-hole links golf course located in Currie, King Island, Tasmania, established in 1932. Situated between mainland Australia and Tasmania, the course is recognized as the best 9-hole course in Australia and ranks 17th globally among 9-hole courses. The layout features holes that play through established vegetation and rolling farmland before heading toward the water, where the course becomes fully exposed to coastal elements including wind and surf. The challenging weather patterns characteristic of the region significantly influence play. Two sets of tees for each hole provide variety and accommodate different skill levels. As the first and historically only golf course on King Island, serving the resident population of approximately 1,500, the club has established itself as a notable links golf destination. The course hosts the annual King Island Open, a prestigious 36-hole stroke play tournament held in early November that attracts golfers for four days of competition. The club features both golf and bowls facilities, with the links course and picturesque bowls green positioned adjacent to one another. Visitors are welcomed to play, with club hire and green fee services available. The course represents a significant piece of links golf history in Bass Strait.
