Sandringham Golf Course

Victoria, Australia

Sandringham Golf Course is an 18-hole links-style course located in Melbourne, designed by Mike Cocking from OCM and constructed by the links staff of Royal Melbourne. The course delivers a genuine Sandbelt experience accessible to public golfers of all abilities, from beginners to single-figure handicappers. The layout features characteristic Sandbelt elements including generous fairways, firm and fast greens, and strategic bunkering throughout. Notable holes include Hole 12 (High Tee), a spectacular downhill par 3 already recognized as one of the best on the Sandbelt, and Hole 15 (Laughing Duck), a short par 4 requiring precise positioning. The course incorporates varied terrain with several uphill approaches and elevated greens, creating challenges even for experienced players. Key characteristics include doglegs, false fronts, mounding, and undulating greens that reward precise shotmaking. The course emphasizes fun and playability while maintaining difficulty, with greens compared favorably to Royal Melbourne. Sandringham also features a 30-bay undercover driving range with practice fairway and target greens, plus the Sandy Hills Putting Course for family recreation. The facility serves as home to the Australian Golf Centre and headquarters for Golf Australia and the PGA of Australia.
