St. Oswald bei Freistadt, Oberösterreich, Austria

Golfclub St. Oswald - Freistadt is an 18-hole golf course located in the Mühlviertel region of Austria, situated a few minutes from Linz. The course is set within rolling, hilly terrain characteristic of the Mühlviertel landscape, offering scenic views from the clubhouse terrace overlooking the village and course. The layout is described as spacious and varied, featuring notable elevation changes throughout. The course originally consisted of nine holes, with a second nine added later. The front nine is considered particularly engaging, offering diverse shot opportunities and strategic risk-reward scenarios. Notable holes include the 6th and 14th, which present interesting challenges. One distinctive feature is reportedly Europe's longest Par 5, described as a downhill dogleg left. The course presents a moderate to challenging difficulty level, well-suited for experienced golfers but potentially demanding for beginners. The terrain includes several steep, hilly sections that add character and uniqueness to the layout. Bunkers are well-maintained and playable, while greens are described as consistently well-groomed and true. The facility includes a modern clubhouse with restaurant facilities, and QR codes at each hole provide drone footage of the course. The overall setting emphasizes integration with the natural landscape, creating an aesthetically appealing Austrian golf experience.
