Brora Golf Club

Brora Golf Club is an 18-hole links course established in 1891 and designed by the renowned James Braid, recognized as one of his finest works. Located in Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands near the village of Brora, the course sits alongside the sea with spectacular coastal views and challenging, hilly terrain characteristic of natural links golf. The course presents a balanced test suitable for golfers of all abilities, though its short scorecard belies its genuine difficulty. Notable features include distinctive par-3 holes of varying lengths and directions, and notable natural contouring particularly evident on the back nine. The course is home to the James Braid Society and has been endorsed by five-time Open Champion Peter Thomson as among the world's finest links courses. Brora is positioned 16 miles from Dornoch, making it part of the region's premier golf destination. The clubhouse offers views across the course and provides traditional Highland hospitality. The course maintains its status as one of Scotland's last truly natural links, avoiding excessive modern conditioning while preserving its original character and challenge.
