The King James VI Junior Open takes place at King James VI Golf Club in Perth on Friday 3rd July 2026. This is an individual medal (strokeplay) competition for junior golfers, played from the White tees (Men) or Red tees (Ladies). Handicap allowance is 95% of playing handicap, with a playing handicap limit of 28 for boys and 36 for girls. The entry fee is £5.00 for both members and visitors, payable in full at the time of booking. Online entry is available via the club's booking system, with signup closing at 12:00 pm on 2nd July 2026. For entries after the online booking deadline, contact the Golf Shop on 01738 632460 (Option 1). Cancellations made at least 7 days before the event receive a full refund; cancellations within 7 days are refunded only if the space is filled by another player. Bookings are transferrable to a friend if the entrant is unable to play.

King James VI Golf Club is located on Moncreiffe Island in Perth, Scotland, one of only two inland island golf courses in the world. Situated on the banks of the River Tay, the club was founded in 1858 and relocated to its current idyllic setting in 1897. The 18-hole course was designed by renowned St Andrews professional 'Old' Tom Morris, a four-time Open Championship winner. Morris's design incorporates natural features including walls, burns, and heather, characteristic of his approach to course architecture. The course operates on a seasonal basis with winter and summer configurations. The club holds historical significance in golf, having hosted the first inter-club match in 1860 against Elie and Earlsferry Golf Club, and later playing Ireland's first inter-club match in 1884 against Royal Belfast. The original wooden clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1955 but was subsequently rebuilt. Today, the club welcomes both members and visitors, offering a picturesque riverside setting combined with challenging golf just a short walk from Perth city centre.
