The course was designed by renowned course architect Tom Bendelow from Chicago and opened in 1927. A distinctive feature is that the club is home to Pennsylvania's oldest Par 6, making it a notable characteristic within the state's golf landscape. The American Legion purchased the club for $12,000 and rebuilt the clubhouse in 1947, adding many amenities. The course has maintained its significance as a community golf destination in central Pennsylvania, hosting rounds from golfers of varying skill levels.
