Sherborne Golf Club

Dorset, England

Sherborne Golf Club, founded in 1894, was designed by the renowned Scottish architect James Braid. Located in Higher Clatcombe, Dorset, the course has been in existence for over 130 years and has undergone numerous improvements and extensions since its original design. The course is recognised as one of the major courses in the Southwest, offering fantastic views across the surrounding landscape combined with a challenging layout. The terrain and setting provide both visual appeal and considerable difficulty for players of all levels. The club operates multiple roll-up groups and competitive inter- and intra-club competitions, catering to a range of golfing abilities. Visitors and members have access to the first tee throughout the day, with organised tee times available from 11:00am (10:30am in winter). Practice facilities include pitching, putting, and bunker areas. The club is expanding its offering with plans to open a new 12-bay covered and 6 open-bay driving range featuring Trackman technology and a studio in 2026, creating what will be described as Dorset's premier practice facility. The club welcomes juniors through its dedicated academy programme and maintains relationships with local schools and the Dorset County Golf Union.
