Playing to a par of 68 from the back tees and 70 from medal tees, the course presents a deceptively challenging layout with flat-appearing fairways concealing undulating greens. Key characteristics include over 70 bunkers, with particularly penal Braid bunkers, three burns crossing toward the sea affecting eight holes, and an out of bounds threatening the first seven holes plus the 13th and 18th.
