Description

Cochrane Castle Golf Club is proud to host two of our most anticipated events of the season on Saturday, August 15, 2026. We invite elite golfers to compete in these high-caliber competitions at our Johnstone course.

The Open: A handicap stroke play competition. This event is open to players with a maximum handicap of 24. There will be cash voucher prizes for first class (scratch to 12) and second class (13 to 24).

The Craigston Rosebowl: Our prestigious scratch stroke play competition. This is a non-handicap event identifying the purest ball-strikers in the field.

Both competitions represent the pinnacle of competitive play at Cochrane Castle Golf Club. Please ensure your entries are submitted online via the Club website, Scottish Golf website or via the SG app.

This competition is a Renfrewshire Golf Union (RGU) order of merit competition.


Prizes

For entrants in the Open competition there will be cash voucher prizes for first class (scratch to 12) and second class (13 to 24) for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each class.

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd voucher prizes for those competing for the Craigston Rosebowl.

All holes will be sponsored with skill prizes available.

Cochrane Castle Golf Club is located in Johnstone, Renfrewshire, and features an 18-hole mature parkland course measuring 6,194 yards. Established in 1895, the course was designed by Charlie Hunter and is a member of the Association of James Braid Courses. The layout provides a traditional parkland setting with a full-size par 4 practice facility available to members. The club offers competitive and social golf competitions throughout the year and maintains official handicap provisions for open competition play. Members benefit from access to modern coaching technology including the GC Quad launch monitor utilized by the club professional for game improvement lessons. The course accommodates visiting parties and societies, welcoming guests at discounted green fee rates.
