Bridge of Allan, Stirling, United Kingdom

Bridge of Allan Golf Club is a 9-hole course designed by Old Tom Morris in 1895, located on a hillside above the Victorian spa town of Bridge of Allan in Stirling. The course is characterized by its challenging terrain with no flat lies and significant elevation changes, particularly the demanding opening hole—a 223-yard par 3 featuring a 40-degree uphill climb and a stone dyke fronting the green. The layout incorporates distinctive Victorian-era features including blind shots, quaint stone walls, and crossing fairways. Out-of-bounds hazards threaten from virtually every tee, adding considerable difficulty to play. The course commands breath-taking views of the Stirling area, the Trossachs, and the Forth Valley. Recognized as "one of Scotland's national treasures," the course has remained iconic throughout its 125-year history. It was a finalist for Scotland's best 9-hole course in both 2023 and 2024. The combination of challenging hole design, elevated setting, and preservation of its original character make it a notable example of classic Scottish golf architecture that continues to test and reward contemporary golfers.
