The Amateur Players Tour operates across 48 chapters in the United States and Canada, hosting over 800 local tournaments annually plus more than 15 national major championships at destination venues. Members compete in five divisions based on an APT Tournament Index calculated from tournament scores, ranging from Division 1 (3.4 handicap and below) to Division 5 (18.5 and above). Annual membership costs $135 and includes a $50 pro shop credit, partner discounts, and access to all events. Individual tournament entry fees apply separately.
The tour emphasizes professionally-run events at quality public and private courses, with separate competitions for seniors and options for ladies who compete from equitable tees. Winners in each division receive trophies and prizes paid in VISA gift cards. Players compete in season-long points races for local Player of the Year honors, with opportunities to qualify for the North American Championship and Senior North American Championship held at the season's end.
The APT focuses on pace of play and creating an inclusive competitive environment for golfers of all abilities. The tour partners with organizations including Folds of Honor, offering members the option to upgrade to a Folds of Honor Partner membership for $210, which includes a $75 charitable donation supporting educational scholarships for families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders.
