Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course located in the heart of the High Peak in Derbyshire, near Buxton and Castleton. Founded in 1905 as a challenging 9-hole course, it was expanded in the early 1970s by renowned golf architects Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, who designed nine additional holes. The original nine holes were subsequently revamped with newly acquired land.
The course plays to par 72 and is notable for its surprisingly flat layout, situated in a valley with commanding views of the surrounding Peak District hills from every hole. This setting provides a distinctive character, with the panoramic landscape forming an integral part of the playing experience. The combination of the original design and the modern expansion by Alliss and Thomas creates a well-regarded course that balances historical heritage with contemporary architecture. The club welcomes both societies and individual visitors, offering a welcoming environment for golfers of varying abilities to experience this hidden gem.
