Burntisland Golf House Club, Dodhead

Burntisland, Fife, United Kingdom

Burntisland Golf House Club is a historic parkland course located in Fife, Scotland, overlooking the town of Burntisland with stunning views across the Firth of Forth towards the famous Forth Bridges. Golf has been played at this site since at least 1797, with the original club recognized as the 10th oldest in the world. The course was designed by Willie Park Jr., twice Open Champion, in 1896 following a survey by Old Tom Morris, and was updated by James Braid in 1922. It represents Park Jr.'s only course in Fife. While not exceptionally long, the layout features generous fairways, lush grass, and links-style greens that provide varied challenges for golfers of all abilities. The course tests shotmaking through its design rather than length. Notable features include the aesthetic 8th hole, from which Edinburgh Castle is visible. The setting combines parkland characteristics with panoramic views of the Forth bridges and surrounding landscape. The traditional clubhouse provides comfortable facilities including a lounge bar and dining room, welcoming visitors year-round.
