Venue

Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club

Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland

Opened in 1907, Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club is an 18-hole course originally designed by Ben Sayers and remodeled in 1936 by James Braid. Located in Edinburgh, the course offers commanding views stretching from the Forth Bridges to Edinburgh Castle and North Berwick Law, with the Pentland Hills visible from the clubhouse. Despite its compact 68-acre footprint, the course delivers a challenging test of golfing skill, rewarding precision and strategy rather than length. The ingenious layout provides flexibility, allowing members to play shorter loops of 3, 7, 9, 10, or 12 holes, or the complete 18-hole round depending on time availability. The club hosts regular men's and ladies competitions, alongside a successful Get Into Golf program for beginners and a growing junior program. Lessons are available for members and visitors. The modern clubhouse, rebuilt in 2001 with a south-facing aspect, provides exceptional catering facilities and serves as a venue for events and private functions. The course remains a test of precision and tactical play within a beautifully landscaped setting.
