The Grand Challenge Tankards is a 36-hole pairs competition held over two days as part of the Maesdu September Open Meeting (4–13 September 2026). On Thursday 10th September, pairs play an 18-hole Greensome format; on Friday 11th September, they play an 18-hole Foursomes format. Pairs play at the same time each day. The event is open to men and ladies from recognised (non-virtual) golf clubs. Entrants must hold a CDH number, a fully developed handicap (minimum 20 scores recorded), and a maximum Handicap Index of 28 for men or 36 for ladies. Entry fee is £15.00 per pair for members and £30.00 per pair for visitors. Prizes include mementos and vouchers valued at £100 for winners, £50 for runners-up, and additional vouchers for best first and second round scores and best visiting partnership.

Maesdu Golf Club is an 18-hole Championship course located in Llandudno on the North Wales coast, positioned between the historic resorts of Llandudno and Conwy. The gently undulating layout combines parkland and links characteristics, offering panoramic views across Conwy Bay towards Great Orme Head and Snowdonia National Park. The course is situated less than a mile from Llandudno's Victorian resort centre with convenient access via the A55 Expressway. Maesdu is recognized for its immaculate fairways and challenging greens that feature varied contouring, providing a test suitable for golfers of all abilities. The course benefits from over a hundred years of club history and maintains Championship-standard facilities. The setting provides dramatic scenic views throughout the round, with the gently rolling terrain and seaside location creating distinctive playing conditions. The course's blend of parkland and links holes, combined with its elevated position overlooking the bay, contributes to its character as a challenging yet welcoming venue for both members and visitors.
