Star Valley Ranch, WY, United States
Aspen Hills Golf Course is a nine-hole par 36 course situated atop a mountain in Star Valley, Wyoming, offering extraordinary views of the surrounding landscape. The course is characterized by challenging terrain defined by thick Aspen trees that frame the fairways and create a distinctive mountain setting.
The signature hole is the renowned 4th hole, nicknamed "The Tunnel Hole," a 554-yard double dogleg par 5 that is recognized as the most difficult hole in Wyoming. This hole features an exceptionally narrow fairway, with sections as tight as 40 yards, winding between dense Aspen trees on both sides. The fairway slopes left throughout most of the hole's length, leading to a highly elevated green. The hole's difficulty stems from the tight tree-lined corridor requiring precise shot placement, with minimal margin for error.
The course design emphasizes strategy and accuracy, with the natural landscape and vegetation serving as primary hazards rather than traditional sand bunkers or water features. The elevated green complexes and mountainous terrain add to the overall challenge and character of the course.
