Beckenbauer Golf Course

Rotthalmünster, Bayern, Germany

Beckenbauer Golf Course is an 18-hole, Par 72 championship course designed by legendary golfer Bernhard Langer, located near Penning in the Rott river floodplain. Measuring 6,500 meters from the championship tees, it is considered the most challenging course at Quellness Golf Resort and was specifically designed to host major championships. The course features a flat but undulating layout spread across 80 hectares, divided into two contrasting nine-hole loops. Water hazards dominate the design, appearing in 13 of 18 holes in the form of streams, ditches, flood channels, and ponds, requiring precision on both drives and approach shots. Signature holes include the 9th and 18th, where large ponds create island greens surrounded by stone walls. Additional challenges include Par-3 holes up to 200 meters, strategically positioned bunkers, and interesting doglegs. The course hosted prestigious PGA European Tour events from 2013-2017, including the Porsche European Open (2015-2016) and the Paul Lawrie Matchplay (2017), as well as the Challenge Tour (2013-2015). Its excellent conditioning is maintained by a dual irrigation system and hand-mown fairways and greens, earning recognition from Europe's top professional golfers.
