Galway Golf Club, located in the seaside resort of Salthill, has been a home for golf since 1895. The championship-standard 18-hole parkland course measures 5,974 metres and plays to a par of 70 with a standard scratch of 72 from the back tees. The course is voted one of Europe's top 50 hidden gems and offers spectacular views over Galway Bay, the Burren, and the Aran Islands. The layout features mature trees, elevated and tiered greens, and abundant wild gorse that demands accuracy from the tee. A notable design feature includes the first four holes running alongside Galway Bay, accessed via an underground pedestrian tunnel. The course requires a strong short game and accurate putting to score well. The club has hosted several significant tournaments, including the 2016 Connacht Boys U18 Championship, the 2016 Irish Youths Amateur Open Championship, the 2017 Irish Close Championship, and the 2019 Irish Girls Close Championship.
