Annual 36-hole stroke play (gross score) amateur golf tournament held since 1956 at Sunset Valley Golf Club, 1390 Sunset Road, Highland Park, IL 60035. The tournament field is limited to 168 players divided into four divisions: Championship (recommended handicap 4 or less, Black Tees, 6700 yards), Open (recommended handicap 5 or more, Blue Tees, 6400 yards), Senior (age 65+, White Tees, 6000 yards), and Women's (Red Tees, 5400 yards). Entry fee of $195 includes two rounds of tournament play, lunch both days, and a tee gift. All entries must be received no later than Wednesday, July 15, 2026, and must include an updated 2026 USGA Handicap Index. Refunds for withdrawals may be issued no later than July 15, 2026, minus a $25 processing fee. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to approve or reject any application. Starting times will be emailed to each applicant by Monday, July 20, 2026; if not received by that date, contact the pro shop at 847.432.7140. Tee times begin at 7am both days. Pairings for the first round may be requested or will be assigned by the tournament committee based on course handicaps. Pairings for the second round are based on the first round's gross score, broken into flights. The Championship Division tees off last on day two. The lowest gross score over 36 holes in the Championship Division wins the North Shore Amateur. Winner of the Championship Division receives an automatic exemption into the Illinois Open.
